Your Input Needed: Freshpaint's Hack Week Projects
A few weeks ago, Freshpaint organized a “Hack Week.” Teams were given the latitude to work on whatever they wanted, as long as they had big ideas that could have a huge impact on our customers.
Below we’ve got details of each of those Hack Week projects, but we need your help! To have a huge impact on our customers, we want your input. After checking out each of the projects, click here to vote for the projects you’re most excited about.
Note: These are all early prototypes. Please ignore aesthetics and just focus on the capabilities we would enable.
Project 1: HIPAA Compliant Forms
Team: Andrew, James, Ankur
James observed that many healthcare organizations are stuck paying large fees to be able to offer HIPAA-compliant forms on their website. On top of that, it’s difficult or impossible to capture form metrics like partial field fills and focus events. Andrew and Ankur prototyped a drag-and-drop form builder in the existing Freshpaint app that allows Freshpaint customers to:
- Interactively build their own forms
- Collect data on form events (focus, fill, submit)
- Visualize the funnel/dropoff for form submissions
- View the form submit results.

Project 2: Tag Manager
Team: Brandon, Buc, Tim
Brandon, Buc, and Tim built a tag manager to explore bringing a Google Tag Manager-like toolkit directly into Freshpaint. While Freshpaint already supports a richly featured auto-tagger for instrumenting sites, we want to provide customers with even more of the programmatic marketing automation superpowered tag managers offer.
A Freshpaint-native tag manager solves both technical and operational problems and risks. Many of our customers use tools like Google Tag Manager today in conjunction with Freshpaint. A full-featured Freshpaint-native tag manager would allow customers to move entirely off of tools like Google Tag Manager if they so choose.
Large enterprises need to control not just how marketing data is collected, but also who is permitted to manage data collection and processing. Freshpaint can empower customers to collect, analyze, and process critical marketing data under the safe umbrella the Freshpaint platform provides, while delivering best-in-class tools to facilitate sophisticated data-driven marketing.

Project 3: AI Customer Support Chat Bot
Team: Tiffany, Gina, Noelle, Isaac
The project's goal is to enhance our support capabilities and provide efficient, round-the-clock support. This is achieved by automating FAQ answer retrieval using a chatbot armed with all the information found within Freshpaint’s extensive documentation. The bot also automatically submits support tickets when satisfactory answers are not returned.

Project 4: Pivot Tables
Team: Minh and Kevin
When doing research we found some of the most common feedback in other products was that dashboards look great, but what people really wanted to do is pivots on the data. As such, to create compelling analytics features within Freshpaint the ability to Pivot would be essential.
Knowing this, our team built a prototype for doing Pivots within Freshpaint – making it possible for customers to leverage the data that Freshpaint already collects. And if our customers adopt our analytics features, they will not have to worry about self-hosting a solution or deal with the intricacies of anonymizing the data when using an analytics tool that will not sign a BAA.

Project 5: AI PHI Detector
Team: Bianchi and Eddy
Bianchi and Eddy collaborated on enhancing the capabilities of the Web Tracker Manager, which was initially made to detect third parties embedded within healthcare providers' websites. The objective of this new project was to leverage AI to analyze the data transmitted to these third parties over the network. Specifically, the goal was to identify any potentially sensitive PHI within this data and classify it accordingly. The vision is to empower customers with comprehensive insights into the nature of patient data transmission.

Project 6: Google Privacy Sandbox (View-Through and Retargeting)
Team: Joey
Joey built a prototype to enable our customers to measure view-through conversions and retarget ads to their website visitors using the Privacy Sandbox.
For view-through conversions, Freshpaint would use the Privacy Sandbox Attribution Reporting API, and for retargeting, we would use the Protected Audiences API. There are some big caveats to note:
- Browser Support: Privacy Sandbox is only supported in Google Chrome, which is about 65% of the browser market share.
- Ad Platform Support: Privacy Sandbox is only supported by Google Ads at this time. Other ad platforms may add support in the future but none have made any specific commitments.
- The Privacy Sandbox requires that the user’s browser integrate directly with the ad platform. As a result, Freshpaint cannot prevent the ad platform from accessing the user’s IP address. While IP address alone is not PHI because it does not contain any health information, some of our customers’ legal teams are not comfortable sharing it.

Project 7: Freshpaint Analytics
Team: Michael and Collin
From chatting with customers, Michael and Collin observed that no one actually likes the GA4 reporting functionality. Michael and Collin wanted to see how hard it would be to add GA4-like analytics functionality to Freshpaint. Their goal is to eventually make a healthcare-first web analytics platform that people enjoy using.
